Artist Statement

My current body of work is mainly inspired by dogs and cats, mixed with inspiration from Japanese folktales and stories that show through cute but odd elements.

I hand sculpt each piece with porcelain, then decorate them with pigment, glaze and 22k gold luster. Those materials are chosen to make the sculptures look like paintings or jewelry with contrast in different textures.

My work is a reflection of my sensitive feelings and comfort that I receive from animals, as well as stories that are often told about misunderstood or unnoticed characters. I often find beauty in sadness which makes life painful but worth living.

Through my work, I attempt to evoke opposite feelings within one object - cute and creepy, sad but sweet.
